Campaigning for greater parity of funding for children's hospices...

Campaigning

Welcome to the Fair Play for Children's Hospice Website

Hospices are more than just bricks and mortar; they provide a multitude of services for a life limited child and their family stretching from respite care through to adventure holidays. The hospice movement has earned admiration, government endorsement and devoted support for its work with patients and their families who require palliative care for life limiting illnesses. Hospices have enriched the lives millions of people and will be a beacon to millions more.

Children’s hospices need funding though. The issues surrounding funding for children’s hospices are complex and challenging and at Fair Play we maintain that there should be greater parity of statutory funding (funding provided by government) with adult hospices. Fair Play is concerned that there are still funding inconsistencies, no guarantees on funding provision and no system yet devised that will achieve these goals. Whilst these remain, long-term, increased, sustainable and consistent funding by statutory authorities is no closer to being achieved.

Good sentiments are not enough for Fair Play. We want actions, commitments and guarantees!

It is our vision that this website will help allow hospices to do what they do best and support life-limited children and their families with hospice services which go beyond bricks and mortar; whilst Fair Play for Children’s Hospices prods and pokes the Government to do the right thing and guarantee consistent, long-term and increased funding. We want parity of statutory funding with adult hospices now and guaranteed for the future. This website will provide all of the information a parent, carer, hospice or NHS representative will need to understand the palliative care service options and more importantly, how to access them.
