Campaign Champions
Fair Play is grateful to have the support of a number of campaign ‘Ambassadors’ who are championing our cause both nationally and locally. Read below their messages of support:
Message from Barbara Gelb, CEO, Association of Children's Hospices
"The Fair Play campaign is going to make a tremendous difference in terms of raising public awareness of the fact that children's hospices exist. Whilst we are delighted with the £27 million which the government has recently agreed to provide for children's hospices services in England over the next 3 years, there is now a pressing need to secure a positive outcome from the imminent government review of the long-term funding arrangements for children's hospice services. Association of Children's Hospices and its members urge everyone to click on the Fair Play website and pledge their support for this very important campaign."
Message from Dalton Leong, Chief Executive, The Shooting Star Children's Hospice (www.shootingstar.org.uk)
"Fundraising is a vital part of the work we do at The Shooting Star Children's Hospice, but it is taking up even more of our time as the years progress. Short-term funding from the Government is extremely welcome, but it is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what we need to raise to continue to deliver our essential and free services. Please support Fair Play for Children's Hospices to help us secure a desperately needed government commitment to provide sustained, long-term funding."
Message from Dr. Bob Spink, MP Castle Point
"Now, more than ever, we need the support of the British public to secure sustained, long-term government funding for children's hospice services. While the recent short-term boost and commitment from the Government to review the long-term funding of children's hospices is a step in the right direction, we need to ensure that this review is carried out swiftly and a commitment to provide sustained, long-term funding is quickly secured to guarantee the future of their essential and free services."
