Fair Play Fact Sheet
WHAT:
The Fair Play for Children's Hospices campaign is seeking a government commitment to provide sustained, long-term funding for children's hospice services.
WHY:
- Children’s hospice services rely overwhelmingly on public support and are supplemented by only a small, unpredictable contribution from the government
- While short-term, ad hoc government funding is welcome, a guaranteed system of funding is needed to ensure all children’s hospices can provide their essential services, for free, to current and future generations of children who will die before they reach adulthood, and their families
- Without a government commitment to provide sustained, long-term funding many children’s hospices will continue to face cut backs or closure
WHO:
The Fair Play for Children's Hospices campaign is founded and totally funded by the NBC Winner Foundation, a charitable trust established by Neil D Bruce Copp OBE, who has a long history of involvement with children's charities, including support for Shooting Star Children's Hospice in Hampton
Fair Play for Children’s Hospices is working alongside Association of Children’s Hospices (ACH). ACH is leading the process of political negotiations with the government and Department of Health. Fair Play will work alongside ACH to engage and mobilise the public and politicians to bring about change.
